Spotlight & Console/Q-Lab Course

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Morning:
The Spotlight Training portion of this course will focus on both theory and application. The classroom training will include the spotlight itself, stage directions, beam diameters, cueing, and paperwork.
The lab portion will include hands-on experience working with various models of followspots. Training will include identifying the parts of the followspot, adding color, working with the beam, targeting,
and practice of following a live dancer/performer.
By the end of this course, participants with have a working familiarity with an array of followspots, their components, and practical experience spotting a performer.
Afternoon:
The Sound portion of this course will provide instruction on the setup/operation of a Dante Sound Console and the layout/operation of Cue-Based Control Software – Qlab. Instruction includes
classroom lectures and lab components on both topics. The classroom lecture for the Dante Sound Console will cover networking, patching, latency, selecting a leader, load modes, and using
the Dante Virtual Sound Card. The lab component will cover connecting the system, Dante setup and routing, patching, mixing, and operation. The classroom lecture for the use of Cue-Based
Control Software – Qlab will cover layout, prep, audio cue, fade cues, linking cues, and group. The lab component will cover programing cues for a performance.
By the end of this course participants will have gained experience in the operation of a Dante Sound Console and layout/operation of Cue-Based Control Software – Qlab.
Classes will be starting at 8:30 am for sign-in, lecture beginning at 9:00am. Class will end at 4:30pm.

This course builds on the Introduction to Lighting Course. It is designed to be taken independently of the introductory class for more advanced operators. This course engages hands on practical experience with programing a lighting board (ETC ION) for theater, concerts, Broadway, tradeshows, and all audio visual aspects. Topics follow:
